The Shelnutt House Museum (sometimes called the Shelnutt/Wessinger House) is considered the oldest house in Bowdon. Read on to discover how you can learn more about this special site.

The Bowdon Area Historical Society (BAHS) has acquired the Shelnutt/Wessinger house, one of the oldest houses in Bowdon. The house is located beside BAHS's headquarters (the old church behind the high school, now called The Meeting Place) and is now a museum dedicated to the history of Bowdon. BAHS has restored the house by replacing the chimney, roof and foundation and adding a fresh coat of paint inside and out. Inside you will find an interesting collection of items depicting life in Bowdon over a century ago. Individuals and groups are welcome to tour the museum. Call for an appointment.

Donations of antiques, old photos depicting Bowdon life, etc. are welcome and greatly appreciated. Be a part of this exhibit and help preserve Bowdon's past! For more information or for comments or questions, contact Judy and Jim Rowell at 770-258-3976.
