The second wave of Overland riders rode through Bowdon today. They made a quick stop at the City Hall to enjoy some bottled water, snacks, fresh blueberries, homemade pound cake and the air condition. This group spent last night at McIntosh Reserve and will be riding to Tallapoosa, Cedartown and then to Piedmont, AL before nightfall. They average riding about 85 miles a day and eating 7000 to 8000 caleries per day. This crew of riders consisted of all eleventh graders led by two chaperones. Some of the states they represent are New York, New Jersey, West Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusett, Tennessee and California. The group will be arriving in California around the 1st of August. We wish them luck with this heat wave coming through!
